The brand achieved significant popularity in the 1960s due to the endorsement of the Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. It is a subsidiary of Conn-Selmer. Products manufactured by Ludwig include timpani, drum kits, and drum hardware.

These were sold alongside Ludwig Acrolites and were often used by students, who could fit their snare in, along with a stand, sticks, practice pad and any sheet music. The cases were designed for 14x5” snares, ie your Supraphonic 400 or Acrolite etc..
