The YAIBA models carry forward the exceptional Canopus sound, while further developing and refining the original YAIBA concept — all at a much more accessible price point. For drummers who have always dreamed of owning the Canopus sound without the premium cost, this is an ideal solution.
To make this possible, we took a new direction in constructing the shells, selecting drumheads, and designing hardware. We also replaced the expensive and time-intensive nitrocellulose lacquer with a more commonly used high-end lacquer, which speeds up the drying process and shortens production time — resulting in a significant cost reduction.
The NEW YAIBA series now comes in a wide array of colors, including striking new sparkle lacquer finishes, contributing to its distinct visual and sonic appeal.
The Groove Kit and Bop Kit are products of careful research into shell materials that best match different playing styles and tonal needs. Birch was chosen for the Groove Kit, and maple for the Bop Kit — a deliberate decision that brings a fresh approach to drum series design. This blend of materials within a single product line is a concept we believe is new to the drum industry.
